List of documents required for EXS:

  • CMR - cargo transport document;
  • Route
  • A separate EXS declaration is required, if:
    • the contract of carriage carries an empty container (a contract of carriage or a contract of carriage is a contract between a carrier and a freight forwarder or a passenger specifying the obligations and rights of each party);
    • the cargo has been temporarily stored for more than 14 days;
    • the cargo has been temporarily stored for less than 14 days, but the details of the import security and safety declaration are unknown or the destination of the consignment changes;
    • the commodities are in transit under cover of a Transit Accompanying Document (TAD) or a Transit and Security and Security Declaration (TSAD) - the TSAD cannot be used to ensure security and safety requirements in the UK;

Information required for EXS:

  • Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road” (CMR);
  • Invoice;
  • Packing list and / or specification (if available); If not available, then the quantities, weights, values, consignor, consignee of the commodities are given.

What else should you know about this service?

EXS (Exit summary declaration) - the statutory of exit of commodities from the UK to another country by lodging a exit summary declaration. The exit summary declaration shall cover the transport of empty pallets, containers or vehicles.

EXS declarations can be submitted through CSP systems or third-party software vendors.
A separate EXS declaration is not required if empty pallets and containers are to be transported from the UK outside the contract of carriage.
